Boho Farmhouse Nursery

I’ve received a lot of questions on the nursery for our son so I thought I’d put together a post on the design concept and why we chose the style we did. Also, I’ve compiled a list of vendors for where to find most of the main pieces.

Let me start by saying that our house is old, like real old. Like at least 120 years old, old. It is a farmhouse by all definitions, but our upstairs especially I’ve stuck with a more contemporary, even hint of boho design style – more straight lines, minimalism, basic forms of shapes, and layered neutrals while obviously keeping the farmhouse aesthetic from an architectural perspective and in our case, particularly wall finishes. Creating this nursery was no exception. I really wanted to intentionally keep the space bright and minimalistic. The textured walls and wood floor bring the subtle farmhouse character and only needed a fresh coat of paint. Without a true overarching theme, I’ve incorporated a whimsy feel with playful colors. We didn’t want it to feel too overly gender specific, but did base some of the palette off of a rocky mountain pattern for the crib and changing pad cover from Milksnob. The pieces above the crib act as a focal element and the rug offers a dash of added color and texture. The end result gives off retreat like sensibilities and I’m enjoying the vibe with all of the time I spend in there these days! Take the tour below!
