Tosa Nursery Project Reveal

I’m at the age where a lot of our friends are getting married and having kids, but the announcement of a baby on the way never gets old. In my mind there are stages: the feeling of disbelief, the excitement, and then the realization that they are in the process of creating a freaking human and there is so much joy coming in so many ways. In this case with some of our close friends, it was no exception – They had been on a long journey to get to this point and it made my heart so happy to know they were expecting. When they asked if I’d help put together the nursery for their sweet baby girl on the way, I of course jumped on the opportunity!

The room was originally used for additional storage and while being a blank slate, did have some unique windows which left a lack of wall space for a traditional dresser and crib setup.

Before Pictures:

We shared a lot of inspiration photos to give me an idea of what spoke to them. From those it was clear they were desiring a bright neutral feel with accents of muted hues and rich texture. We decided not to have a definitive theme, but gravitated toward using a subtle rainbow motif throughout. While making selections we leaned on more contemporary and straight-lined pieces for a clean base. Then layering on subtle geometrics and boho inspired textures brought some coziness and depth to the room, but all of details are really what make this space so special (and what give me all of the feels when working on nurseries!). Every corner has items with meaning or memories associated…from handmade quilt blankets and macramé wall art to endless books with personalized notes inside.

There are so many unknowns when expecting, but it is clear that there is certainly no shortage of love coming for this little girl!
